Planting 216,500 trees last year across Dubai resulted in a 17% rise in the city’s green cover from 2023. As per the Dubai Municipality, on average, 600 trees were planted daily in 2024.

Due to afforestation and landscaping initiatives, the emirate’s green spaces expanded by 391.5 hectares (i.e., a 57% increase from 2023). Dubai Municipality also planted 5.3 million seedlings of indigenous flowers (like Sidr, Ghaf, and Samar) and ornamental plants (such as olive, neem, an array of palm varieties, and Indian jasmine). It replaced 45 million seasonal flowers through three cycles during the year. Evergreen species like Poinciana, Washingtonia, Pongamia, Bismarckia, and Acacia franciana were also planted.
