The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a significant infrastructure enhancement project in Hatta, marking another milestone in the region’s development. The project features a new 1-kilometer service road running parallel to the main Dubai-Hatta Road, designed to improve accessibility and support the area’s growing tourism sector.
The newly constructed road, which connects the Hatta Souq Roundabout with the main route, facilitates smoother access for those heading to Hatta Souq while enhancing movement between the roundabout and the entrance to the Masfut area in both directions.
The project includes comprehensive lighting works with modern units to ensure optimal visibility during night-time travel. This infrastructure upgrade is a crucial component of the broader Hatta Master Development Plan, which falls under the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. The initiative aims to —
- transform Hatta into a year-round tourist destination
- preserve its natural environment
- boost its tourism competitiveness
The development plan includes several ambitious projects, including the creation of Hatta Beach, which will feature a 10,000-square-meter beach alongside an artificial lake. The RTA has implemented the Irish Crossing system for surface water drainage to enhance safety and durability, effectively minimizing water accumulation on the roadway.
The project aligns with RTA’s ongoing efforts to improve the region’s road network. Several other infrastructure initiatives are also underway. Notable among these is the Internal Roads Project, which has achieved 72% completion and spans a total distance of 38 kilometers. These developments are designed to address the needs of demographic growth and urban expansion in residential communities.
The new service road is expected to —
- significantly impact local communities & tourism positively
- improve accessibility
- reduce travel time
- support the growth of accessible tourism
- create economic opportunities for local businesses
The enhanced infrastructure also complements other development initiatives in Hatta, including —
- building 235 houses in the Makan area
- developing Hatta Downtown near Hatta Souq
This strategic infrastructure enhancement will ensure that Hatta remains a key tourism destination and improve the quality of life for its residents. The project’s completion marks another step forward in RTA’s comprehensive plan to enhance mobility and connectivity across the emirate.
