The new parking system at the Mall of the Emirates uses advanced vehicle license plate recognition technology.
Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates has introduced a new advanced barrier-less paring system. The new system tracks vehicles at the entry and exit points via license plate recognition technology. The automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology tracks a vehicle’s parking duration and uses an SMS-based payment system. After exiting the mall, motorists will receive an SMS along with a payment link to pay the requisite charges.

Motorists must clear the payment within three days; if one fails to do so, a penalty of AED 150 will be levied.
The mall has 7,000 parking slots. Majid Al Futtaim Properties and Parkin PJSC (public parking operator) have collaborated to automate the mall’s parking.
The fee slabs for various time slots are as follows —
Time | Fees |
0-4 hours | Free |
4-5 hours | Dh 20 |
5-6 hours | Dh 40 |
6-7 hours | Dh 60 |
7-8 hours | Dh 100 |
8 plus hours | Dh 150 |
When a visitor arrives at the mall, his/her vehicle’s license plate is automatically tracked by cameras at the parking arena’s entry and exit points. If a parking fee is applicable, the motorist will receive an SMS with the payment link via a web-based platform. Visitors can also link their account to the operator Parkin’s wallet for quicker transactions.
